2010 State of Michigan Electrical Apprentice Changes

Effective September 1, 2010 unlicensed people, working in the electrical trades, must be be in school.  There are NO exceptions.  In addition, all apprentices must be registered with the USDOL.  In the past, typically contractors registered apprentices only when doing prevailing wage work.  That rule has changed.  Again, there are no exceptions.

The new rules state that apprentices must be in school 144 hours per year, over the course four years, for a total of 576 hours.

If you have 8000+ hours of OJT, and are eligible to take the State Licensing exam, you are still required to be in school until the exam is taken and passed.  Once the apprentice has passed the exam schooling is no longer required.   If you are in this position we have to different classes you can take that will meet the DOL requirements.

We registar all apprententics with the USDOL and maintain the registration until the apprentice is licensed for a one time fee of $125.

Advanced Electrial:  Meets on night a week on Wednesday 4 hours per night.  144 Hours as required by the DOL
